UNLEASH YOUR SMALL GROUPS
We believe that small groups are the best vehicle to carrying out the mission of the church and we want to help change the outcome of small groups. Small groups are now looked to as the backbone to discipleship at churches across the country. There’s enormous pressure on a small group to provide care, prayer, education, shepherding, outreach and spiritual growth. In essence a small group is a mini-church.
But these “mini-churches” are often led by regular volunteers. Not the seminary trained professional pastor. So in addition to work responsibilities and family obligations … there are millions of volunteer small group leaders who are trying to wear the hat of host, friend, counselor, teacher, motivator and shepherd.
When these volunteer leaders are overwhelmed they are tempted to do two things:
1. Focus inward and just encourage the group to study and care as a holy huddle.
2. The leader is burned out and decides to quit, leaving the group stagnant and aimless.
Something has got to change or small groups will fail at discipleship. They will simply be one more event to attend amidst a bust schedule and one more place to sit and study but not put faith into action.
